Are you seriously willing to die for Christ? This man recently did.

Good day all,
Just last week Shahbaz Bhatti, Pakistan's Minorities Minister and sole Christian Cabinet minister was assassinated.

In the interview, Mr. Bhatti said of Pakistani Islamists:
They want to impose their radical philosophy in Pakistan and whoever stands against their radical philosophy, they threaten them. When I’m leading this campaign against the Shariah laws and for the abolishment of [the] blasphemy law and speaking for the oppressed and marginalized, persecuted Christians and other minorities, these Taliban threaten me.
But I want to share that I believe in Jesus Christ, who has given his own life for us. I know what is the meaning of [the] cross and I’m following … the cross.
I’m ready to die for a cause. I’m living for my community and suffering people and I will die to defend their rights. So these threats and these warnings cannot change my opinion and principles. I will prefer to die for my principles and for the justice of my community rather to compromise.

*****Blogger fam, these kinds of things are happening everyday. While many of the people that call themselves Christians are worried about how they can use God to glorify self, this man reminds us that its ALL about Christ being glorified. *****

While on facebook this morning one of my mentors post this quote next to this story:
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God... something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. Being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!" - Philippians 2:3-8"

Have a blessed day. Chizzy D

True courage is standing in spite of fear and moving forward, not many of us have that, we speak it put when it comes to following through and standing for one's convictions its a very different story. Not many can walk the talk.

thanks for sharing.
Peace.

@sugabelly..thx for your input..This piece was not about putting Christians against Muslims, rather about a man who was fighting for the rights of persecuted Christians, he was threaten by the Taliban because of it.

His believe in Christ was the reason why he was fighting and the reason the reason why he said that "these threats and these warnings cannot change my opinion and principles. "

So it another words, YES!!!! It is 100% about Christ.

@rhapsody B.....indeed!!! I pray that ppl that call them Christians would be doers and not just speakers.

I was really sad when I heard this story but now, I am not sad again. The reason is because the guy knew they could kill him because of his belief in Christ, yet he was willing to lay down his life. They had killed one other Christian minister before him but this did not daunt him, he forged ahead. I guess to him, 'to live is Christ and to die is gain'. That is why I don't feel bad anymore.
I need to go and check myself in order to know if I am willing to die for Jesus.

@nitty....you have a serious point.

@ilola....yes yes yes, he knew the risk yet never compromised.

you said: "the guy knew they could kill him because of his belief in Christ, yet he was willing to lay down his life. They had killed one other Christian minister before him but this did not daunt him, he forged ahead. I guess to him, 'to live is Christ and to die is gain'.

Praise be to God, I am very encouraged by this testimony. I believe we are in the season of a revival and God is about to do a new thing, something very radical. Our voices will be heard and will be given the power to rule in the affairs of the nations to the glory of the God.

Thank you very much for sharing. You are always in my prayers.
Shalom!

This story is so inspiring. It's definitely one of those stories that make you realize that there is more to life then what I complain about on a daily basis. May this man's courageous Spirit rest in the peace of Christ.

@Sugabelly: this had everything to do with Christ. The man stood for the truth ("Christ") in spite of opposition.

This post got me thinking, especially the scripture quoted by your mentor, I pray to God to help me see others as much better than I am regardless of what my eyes see when I look at them.
