I'm currently on Day 3 of my master cleanse and have to say that day 2 was HARD. I have a feeling Day 3 will not be any better, i'm thinking of reducing the cleanse to 5 days though, we will see.
Ok so i've been doing loads of research on the best foods for my body. I was researching milk and milk alternatives and came across this useful information that i wanted to document and share.
So which milk is best? And which do you drink?
Cow milk:
Cow milk is white opaque liquid which is rich in vitamins, minerals and proteins. Compared to sheep or goat milk, cow milk is better in uniformity, balance, thickness, richness and butterfat.
- Nutrition value:
- The cow milk is very rich in iodine and also contain small amount of Potassium in it. It contains minerals such as Calcium, Phosphorus, Protein, Tryptophan as well as Vitamins such as Vitamin D, B12 & B2 in good amount and Vitamins K & A in small amount. In 100g of Cow milk there are 56 calories and calories from fat are 17.
- Benefits of cow milk:
- It prevents bone disease called rickets.
- It also gives protection from thyroid.
- It also improves the immune system.
- Consuming cow milk with broccoli and egg is regarded as balanced food.
- It is beneficial for healthy bones, dental health and obesity reduction in children.
- Drinking 1 glass of cow’s milk before going to bed assists you in obtaining good sleep.
- Cow milk also boosts semen and relaxes the intestines.
- Disadvantages of Cow Milk:
- Cow milk can lead to various allergies, bleeding from intestines, diarrhea, wheezing and vomiting in babies below one year.
- It is not appropriate for lactose intolerance patients as it lead to vomiting and loose motions.
- Heart disease patients must avoid cow’s milk as it has considerable fat.
- It can cause iron-deficiency as it is poor source of iron.
Buffalo Milk
Buffalo milk is very white and smooth as well as creamier and thicker since it has 100% more fat than cow milk. Compared to cows, sheep or goats milks, buffalo milk is much lower in cholesterol and higher in calcium. Buffalo milk can be conserved naturally for a longer period because of high peroxidase activity.

- Buffalo milk contains minerals such as Calcium in rich amount and Magnesium, Potassium, Phosphorus in good amount and Iron, Sodium, Zinc, Copper, Manganese in small amounts as well as vitamins like Riboflavin & Vitamin B12 in rich amount and Vitamin A, C & Thiamin in good amount and Folate, Pantothenic Acid, Vitamin B6 & Niacin in small amount. In 100g of Buffalo milk there are 97 calories and calories from fat are 61.
- Benefits of Buffalo Milk:
- It is better nutritional supplement for babies.
- It is useful for healthy bones and dental health.
- It is good for cardiovascular health as it contain less cholesterol.
- Buffalo milk is also good for weight gain.
Disadvantage will be similar to cow’s milk.
Goat Milk
Goat milk has slightly sweet and salty taste. It is a suitable option for the people with intolerance as it has slightly less lactose compared to cow milk. It is also a good alternative for the people with allergies as it have various proteins from cow milk.

- Goat milk contains minerals such as Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium& Phosphorous in rich amount and Sodium in good amount as well as Selenium, Zinc & Iron in small amount. - Benefits of Goat Milk:

- It also defends colon cells from cancer causing chemicals.
- It lessens the symptoms of ear infections, asthma, eczema and rheumatoid arthritis.
- People who cannot tolerate cow’s milk can consume goat’s milk as the specific proteins which cause allergic reactions are absent in goat’s milk.

- People who cannot digest cow or goat milk can consume sheep milk.
